Airport Lounges

Keeping yourself entertained in airport lounges

When most people plop down their stuff in airport lounges, they have one thing in mind. They want to kill time as painlessly as possible while they wait to board a plane. Sometimes you are going to be waiting in airport lounges for only a few minutes. Sometimes you will be waiting as long as a few hours or even for an entire night. When this happens, you can either complain about it and become bored out of your mind, or you can actually do something productive with your time. So what's the best way to kill time and keep yourself entertained in these airport lounges?

One of the smartest ways to go about spending time in airport lounges is to bring your laptop and get some work done. This is one of the of the most incredibly things about notebook computers and wireless internet. In the past, you would have no way of getting work done while sitting around. Now, it takes only a couple of minutes to fire up the old computer and start typing away. If you are a student at uni, then you can get to work on the big paper that is due in a few weeks. If you're sales person, you can start typing up reports for your recent trip. No matter what your job is, the airport lounges provide a perfect backdrop for work-related activities.

What could be better than the old fashioned, time tested practice of reading a book. If you don't feel like doing any work, then you can kill time in airport lounges by digging into a new novel. There are lots of places in the airport that will sell new books so that you can have something interesting to read. Most people complain that they just don't have time to get into books. What better time than when you have three or four hours to kill? You might not be able to start and finish an entire novel, but you can get a head start on reading one that can be finished on the plane.

Some folks kill time in airport lounges by taking their act to a pub or restaurant. Today's airports have everything that travelers could possibly need, so you will never be too far away from a pub. If you are tired of sitting around in airport lounges doing nothing, then maybe you should drop in and have a drink at one of these establishments. If you sit for an entire meal, it can be a great way to kill an hour or more.
