Going to the Cinema Has Always Been a Great Treat
Years ago, before there were televisions in the average home, people spent a great deal of time gathered around the radio for news and entertainment. Going to the cinema was also a great way to relax, spend time with family and get informed. In fact, instead of previews, films used to have a short news spot immediately before the feature film. Double features were also a selling point, allowing those on a budget to see two films for the price of one. Of course, today things are much different. News streams 24/7 via the Internet. However, while going to the cinema has changed a bit, some things remain the same.
Going to the cinema has always been an amazing experience. However, the draw is not just the movie itself. If you wait a few months, you can likely see the same movie for half the price by renting or buying it for your personal collection. Even so, people still go to the cinema in droves. This is because the ambiance and atmosphere provided by the big screen is very appealing. There's just nothing like watching your favorite performer do their thing on that silver screen. Add that to the stadium seating and theatre popcorn and it's easy to see why so many people spring for the cinema even when they have so many other options for entertainment. Being engulfed in the plot line and characters helps you forget your own problems, if only for a few hours.
Of course, unlike years past, not all films are family friendly. Those ratings are there for a reason. While you may think that your child is mature enough to handle an adult oriented film, seeing the violence played out on that large screen with surround sound can be enough to overwhelm any child. Carefully screen any film that you plan on taking a minor to see. Even if it appears to be a children's film, read the reviews before going and ask family and friends who have seen it for their opinions. The last thing you want to do is spend your hard earned money for a film that you have to walk out of.
Going to the cinema is a fantastic way to relax. It is also a classic date. Whatever your reasons for seeing a new release, know that you are in good company. Not only is visiting the cinema a popular diversion today, but it has been for generations.
