Entertainment

 Entertainment - Endlessly Varied

21st Century entertainment encompasses many disciplines. Of course there are the classics – museums, theatre, and ballet – but there's also a wide array of alternatives. Here's a sampling.

Music and Dancing

Classes – Learn the basics of Brazilian, Bollywood, or salsa. Almost any kind of dancing is an option, even pole dancing or burlesque for the more risqu้.

Concerts – There's always a gig to see, whether it's at a huge arena or no-name pub. You can also go the timeless route with opera or symphonies.

Raves – These can be huge, showcasing the biggest line-ups, lighting shows, confetti and glitter 'explosions,' bubble canons, UV painting, glow sticks, and so on.

Skilled Amateurs

Photography walks – Groups of amateur photographers congregate, with cameras, and proceed to walk a planned route, taking pictures along with way. Sometimes photography experts walk with to offer pointers. They usually end at a pub, where there's much admiration of shots.

Poker tournaments – The amateur tournaments are usually cheap to enter, with much fun to be had.

Bowling tournaments – These are also cheap to enter and can get competitive. Beer will likely be involved.

Show Off a Talent

Talents Showcase – Be entertained by the up-and-coming of comedy, singing, dancing, poetry, bands, and so on. These are usually not competitions, just relaxed ways to spend an evening.

Quiz nights – Test your knowledge and win prizes. Some have specialised nights like aerospace night and so on.

Watch Others Display Their Talents

Small comedy clubs – Experience the best of the comedy circuit in intimate venues.

Open mic nights – These are for the brave and adventurous…and those who aren't too bothered by off-key singing.

Actor showcases – Up-and-coming actors perform monologues in a slam-style competition. Everything is game, from Classical Greek to early Twentieth Century.

Film screenings – See international independent films covering important topics. Hear from the filmmakers themselves in discussions after screenings.

Everything Else

Disco nights out – Indulge nostalgia and go back to simpler times with DJs playing disco, funk, soul, and Motown classics from the 70s and 80s. There are also ultimate 80s parties, ultimate 90s parties, and others.

Indoor team bike racing – These are for competitors and spectators alike. Some allow male-female teams, have themed costume nights, and so on.

Craft fairs – See experts display their works in mediums such as jewellery, glass, metal, ceramics, textiles and furniture; many offer workshops and demonstrations.

Oktoberfest – Since we're approaching October, many Oktoberfest events will be options. Enjoy fine ales, ciders, live music, and likely much more as you search for the perfect pint.

There's also ample opportunity to learn a new skill – archery, playing instruments, playwriting and screenwriting, among many others. The breadth of entertainment is as wide as the varied interests of those seeking to be entertained.

Entertainment - probably the largest choice of Entertainment in the UK!
