Just to make sure you don’t miss out on the fun, here is a list of just some of the events happening in London that occur annually, so you can mark your calendar now and be ready when they arrive!
January –Start the year at the London New Year’s Millennium Parade in the famous West End district. Over 10,000 performers march over 2 miles, so join the millions of spectators who line the streets.
March – Find great ideas for your home at the Ideal Home Show at Earl’s Court. Enjoy demonstrations, enter contests and see who wins the “Ideal Home” prize. This popular event is a favourite of celebrities and royalty since 1908, so be on the lookout for familiar faces.
April – You can’t miss the world famous Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race, a favorite since 1856. This event is watched around the world for the excitement that builds between these rivals as they row upstream on the river Thames past the cheering crowds to claim the prize.
May – Greet the end of winter days with a trip to the Chelsea Flower Show, perhaps the most famous gardening event in the world. It has become the place to go to see the newest trends!
June – Get your fill of art, music and film at the City of London Festival which last from two to three weeks. There is something for everyone here!
August – Join in the fun at the Notting Hill Carnival, where the cultures of Caribbean are on display showing off their costumes, dancing and culinary skills.
September – Great architecture is beautiful and inspiring, and to see the best of the best, make plans to attend the Open House London event, which features educational projects for the kids, lectures of interest and tours of the exhibits.
October – A great way to get out of the cold, the London Film Festival offers 300 films from all over the world. It’s a great place to learn more about (and maybe see) your favorite celebrities!
November – Tradition is everything at the Lord Mayor’s Show, and the floats and carriages in the street parade have become the stuff of legends.
