 Time for a Holiday?

So, itís finally time for a well-deserved holiday but you have no idea where you want to go. There is so much to see, so much to do and you want this to be the holiday of holidays. Where is it youíve always thought about going? Whatís that one place you canít get out of your mind? Is it a beach resort in the Bahamas? Maybe youíve always wanted to go on an African safari. If you have the means, then start planning now. With the right preparation, you can make that holiday dream come true.

Once youíve decided where you plan to holiday, do some research on accommodations, flights, taxis or car rentals for availability and price. Once youíve established the best deals, book your reservations as soon as possible. Check with the airlines on any restrictions so you wonít be taken by surprise if you have to relinquish any of your possessions.

Make a list of what you will need on your trip. This includes everyday items such as toothpaste, shampoo, and feminine products. These are things we use daily and can easily forget if we wait until the last minute. What is the weather like where youíre going? Will it be hot, cold, or rainy? Prepare for every possible weather eventuality. You may not realise that some very warm places also have very cool nights.

If you are travelling outside the country, be sure your passport and all other identification is in order. Find out if certain shots are recommended or required for your trip and how far in advance you will need to get them. It might be a good idea to brush up on local customs and laws, as well. Perhaps you will need a translation dictionary which can really come in handy when in a communication bind.

Lastly, get your affairs in order well in advance of your holiday. Be sure youíve completed all you need to do at home or work several days before you depart. If you have pets, be sure to make arrangements for their care and any special instructions. Ask a neighbour to watch your home and take in your mail. Water the plants just before you go if you have no one to do it for you.

Enjoy your holiday to the fullest. With the right preparation, you wonít have to worry about anything but getting that perfect tan.
