The city of Milan in Italy is full of history and gorgeous architecture everywhere you look. It's got an ideal location in the upper part of Italy, far from the madness of Rome. There's so much to see in Milan--it's the largest city in Northern Italy--that it's easy to create a vacation solely based on this city.
There are many different parts to the city, making it easy to choose a hotel near shops, gardens, restaurants or the historical center of Milan. For gardens nearby, try the area of Corso Buenos Aires. The center of the city is called Centro Storico, which has a lot of shops, restaurants and bars, though hotels here may be a bit pricier. The area of Magenta has both gardens and shops, great if you want both close by.
Most of the hotels in Milan are in buildings that are many centuries old. Even hotels such as The Four Seasons or Sheraton have taken over buildings from the 1400s to the 1800s, for their well-known hotels in Milan. You need not look far to find a historical hotel, if history is what you seek. Milan is full of historical hotels, though there are a number of newer hotels in the city as well.
Milan has a good number of hotels to choose from, in all price ranges. If you're planning to stay in high style, there are lots of fancy hotels near the city's center with many luxurious amenities. Some of the nicest hotels in Milan come with kitchen and refrigerator, maid service, fireplace or whirlpool, right inside your room or suite. And some of these hotels even allow pets.
If saving a buck is what you desire, hotels just outside of the city's center can be less costly. Many of these hotels are close to a subway station, so they're often just as convenient and a great way to save money. There is much to see on the outside of Milan's center; you shouldn't mind a bit of traveling anyway. Both chain hotels and hotels unique to Milan can be well priced to save you money, so compare prices for both kinds.
Staying in Milan is a great way to start a vacation, or it can be a vacation all on its own. With so much architecture, history, beauty and exhibits inside this large city, you certainly won't be bored in beautiful Milan.
