Sofas

These days choosing a sofa for your home has become even tougher not because thereís any scarcity of quality sofas but because there are just too many to choose from, there are so many brands available in the market and each one just as pleasing as the next. So how do you choose the best for yourself? Well, there are few guidelines to follow if you are looking for quality Loveseats or Sofas. That is, finding out the material they are actually constructed of, beginning with its frame.

Wood is undoubtedly the best material for constructing the frames of sofas, however, just keep in mind that just because it has a wood frame doesnít mean it is good. Finding out if the wood is kiln dried or not, and from where it is generated from is quite important. Generally American hardwood is considered best because it maintains its quality throughout the production process.

Very soon in the future plastics will be used as the main material for the frame construction, though currently most of the sofas are built of some kind of wood. The reason for this trend is because plastic is a lot cheaper and with new advancements in its development, it can be glued, screwed and even made to look exactly like wood. Also thereís no problem of humidity damage unlike wood.

You can always approach a good salesman who can help you understand how the frames are actually constructed. The fixed leg type sofas are quite stable and solid compared to the screw-on, though with screw on types you get an option of choosing from a wide variety of shapes and sizes. Some are stable but to make them last longer you need to keep tightening them. Also, avoid pushing sofas to move them, always lift them up and then move, if you want to prolong the life of your sofa.

Another way of measuring the quality of your sofa is to try and pick it up from one of the ends and see how it feels, whether itís heavy or light. Usually the more solid and heavy a sofa feels, the better the quality. If it is really lightweight it may not have been built well.

When you decide you have found a good sofa be sure to check the warranty as even a veteran shopper can be deceived and in the end you only get what you pay for. You may find that after a couple months of use a cheap sofa turns out to be complete rubbish and in this case you may need to return it so make sure you buy from a reputable source!
